NEW ORLEANS – A teenager who was shot during a parade in New Orleans was trying to break up a fight when the shots were fired.
The 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital, but there was no word on the severity of his injuries, The Times-Picayune│New Orleans Advocate reported.
Police told WGNO they had been patrolling the area as the Muses parade rolled through New Orleans on Feb. 24 when they heard gunfire and responded.
Detectives said the victim was trying to break up a fight among a group of men when he was shot, but didn’t say who fired the shots at the teen, WGNO reported.
Police did not say what caused the fight or how many people were involved, The Times-Picayune│New Orleans Advocate reported.
A photo tweeted by @NewOrleansEMS showed the scene as officers investigated the shooting.
