Man arrested for attack on Southwest agent at Atlanta airport
ATLANTA – Atlanta police arrested a man at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after he attacked a Southwest Airlines gate agent in an attack that was caught on video.
Video that quickly went viral on Twitter shows a man walking up to a gate agent and throwing a punch. The two men are then pulled apart by other Southwest Airlines employees.
The man who threw the punch in the video was identified as Courney Drummond, WSB-TV reported. Drummond was charged with simple battery, battery and obstruction.
Atlanta police said the incident started when Drummond refused to comply with the flight attendants on board a Southwest Airlines flight that was taxiing from the gate to the tarmac. The plane was forced to return to the gate, and Drummond was removed from the flight. Police said after Drummond was removed from the flight, he threatened an agent several times before assaulting that same agent.
