Cincinnati Bengal Mackensie Alexander has left training camp to assist in the search for his missing father in Florida, ESPN confirmed.

Florida authorities are searching for 65-year-old Jean Odney Alexandre, who has been missing since Monday and is the cornerback’s father despite the different spellings of the last name, NFL Network reported.

According to a news release issued by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office, Alexandre traveled about 85 miles from his home to Okeechobee, Florida, to pick palmetto berries with another man, who left Alexandre behind.

Mackensie Alexander, 26, practiced with the team Monday and is expected to play a significant role on the Bengals’ 2020 defense. He signed a one-year contract with the team during the offseason, ESPN reported.

The Immokalee, Florida, native spent his first four professional seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, NFL Network reported.

The player’s father was last seen wearing a white shirt, black jeans with a stripe on the sides and blue Nike shoes with a white line on the sole, the network reported.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Department has since taken over the investigation.

“I can tell you that we have helicopter and ground searches in Okeechobee County that will be going on through the night,” the department said in a statement obtained by the network.
