KILGORE, Texas – A Texas man was hospitalized after police said he attempted to rob a home on Friday.

Dewey Lee Whiteside, of Kilgore, was charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, KLTV reported. He was arrested Saturday and posted $53,000 bail on Monday, the television station reported.

According to an arrest affidavit, police were called to a home at 11:36 p.m. Friday. Officers arriving said a woman on the front porch told them a man’s gun was on a chair next to her, KLTV reported. Upon entering the home, police found a man with Whiteside pinned to the ground, the television station reported.

According to the affidavit, Whiteside and another man entered the home, where a resident heard them and was confronted with a gun pointed at him. The resident told police he wrestled with Whiteside, and the gun discharged a bullet into a wall in a hall, KLTV reported.

The man was able to pin Whiteside to the ground until police arrived, according to the affidavit.

Whiteside was arrested and taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, KTLV reported.
