Christopher Spaunhorst, 32, of Greenbrier, died on Christmas Day while driving his Ford F-150 pickup truck on Interstate 24 West, WZTV reported.

According to a news release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the motive for the shooting “appears to be road rage.”

Police said Spaunhorst was traveling on the interstate at about 12 p.m. Sunday after dropping his mother off at her grandmother’s house, WTVF reported.

Multiple gunshots were fired into the driver’s side door and window of Spaunhorst’s vehicle, according to the television station.

Police officials said in their news release that the person believed to be the shooter fired from a black sedan with chrome trim.

“He was just an amazing man, that — he was a great father,” Spaunhorst’s wife, Stephanie Spaunhorst, told WTVF. “He was an amazing husband.”

Detectives are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
