Police: drunk driver crashed, dropped injured son off at store
JOLIET, Ill. – An Illinois man is accused of driving drunk, crashing his car, and then dropping his son off at a store after the crash.
Christopher Hernandez, of Joliet, was arrested on several charges after investigators said he tried to run from police after dropping off his son, WMAQ reported.
Joliet police said Hernandez hit several cars while driving, injuring his 10-year-old son who was in the car, WLS reported. Police said Hernandez saw his son was hurt and carried him to a nearby store.
The child had a broken leg and firefighters took him to the hospital, WFLD reported. Nobody else involved in the crash was hurt.
In a Facebook post, Joliet police said they had to conduct an extensive search to find Hernandez, who was sent to the hospital before he was taken to jail.
Hernandez was charged with four counts of aggravated DUI and endangering a child’s life, WGN reported.
