Couple arrested after spraying nearby home with bullets after baby called ‘ugly’
DETROIT, Mich. – A couple were arrested after allegedly opening fire on a Detroit home with children inside on Sunday after a baby was reportedly called “ugly,” WDIV reported.
Neither the man nor woman has been identified, but an initial investigation indicates that a 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman confronted a 23-year-old woman at her home, leading to an argument with the woman’s 31-year-old boyfriend, MLive.com reported.
After the argument escalated, Detroit police said the 21-year-old man retrieved a gun from his vehicle and fired at least 16 shots into the home, WDIV reported.
Two young children were inside the home at the time of the shooting, MLive.com reported.
Meanwhile, a neighborhood resident told WDIV that there was also an infant inside the vehicle out of which the firearm was retrieved and that the altercation began when someone called a baby “ugly.”
The suspects fled the shooting in a white Pontiac but were spotted later by police and taken into custody. A weapon was recovered from the vehicle, but no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, WDIV reported.
