Arkansas man charged with capital murder in toddler’s death
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An Arkansas man has been charged with capital murder in connection with the death of a toddler.
According to KTHV and KLRT, Justin Carr, 37, of Little Rock, was originally charged Friday with first-degree battery after two young children were hospitalized with injuries apparently caused by abuse, police said. One of the children was unresponsive and bruised, while the second, a toddler, had traumatic brain injuries, authorities said. The toddler died Monday, and Carr was charged with murder, the news outlets reported.
Little Rock police said Carr is the boyfriend of the children’s 26-year-old mother, who told investigators that she didn’t believe he was abusive, KTHV reported.
Authorities said children were in Carr’s home when he was arrested, according to KLRT. They are now in state custody, the outlet reported.
