Tennessee boy, 8, dies in apparent accidental shooting, police say
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – An 8-year-old Tennessee boy has died in an apparent accidental shooting in a suburban Nashville neighborhood, authorities said.
According to WZTV and The Tennessean, the incident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday on Elizabeth Court in Goodlettsville. Emergency responders arrived to find a boy with a gunshot wound and took him to a nearby hospital, where he died, Goodlettsville police said.
Investigators said the shooting appeared to be accidental but did not release any additional details, The Tennessean reported.
In a social media post, Madison Creek Elementary Principal Jon Duncan said the boy, who had been a student at the school, was “full of energy” and “a friend to so many at MCE,” according to the news outlets.
Police are continuing to investigate the case, WZTV reported.
