Linda Walker, 58, is accused of entering the Amity Missionary Baptist Church sanctuary in Mobile after Sunday’s services ended and pointing a gun at a man and another person, Mobile Police Officer Katrina Frazier told AL.com.

When the unidentified man tried to wrestle the weapon from Walker’s grip, the gun fired, sending a bullet through Walker’s right arm and into the man’s right leg, Frazier confirmed.

Both Walker and the man were transported to area hospitals with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, and Walker faces charges of domestic violence and lack of a pistol permit upon her release, Frazier told AL.com.

Thomas Young, an Amity deacon, told WKRG that only a small group remained in the sanctuary at the time of the shooting because most of the congregants were in the back of the church preparing for its 100th anniversary celebration when the shots were fired.

“We were supposed to be having a glorious time today, but you know, the devil’s busy. You can’t even go to church and have a good time,” Young told the TV station.
