According to WTHR and WISH, the Indianapolis Zoo’s 4-month-old reticulated giraffe calf, Kendi, recently made his first appearance in the attraction’s public outdoor habitat, frolicking with other members of the herd as temperatures reached a balmy 70 degrees.

The zoo took to Facebook on Wednesday to share a video of the moment.

“Here’s a ‘little’ someone you’ll want to meet!” the zoo captioned the post. “Four-month-old Kendi has started venturing outside on nice days. Now 7.5 feet tall, our curious calf explored the whole habitat on his first day out with the giraffe herd.”

Kendi, the youngest of the zoo’s five giraffes, was born early Nov. 8 to first-time mother Kita, the attraction previously announced in a news release. His name means “loved one,” according to WTHR.
