Hunter Schwarz, 25, of San Antonio, hauled in the 152.5-pounder during a fishing trip in Port Aransas, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Schwarz was on the trip sponsored by Dolphin Docks Deep Sea Fishing, which posted photos of the big stingray on its Facebook page.

Schwarz, who describes himself as an avid fisherman, said it took him about 30 to 35 minutes to bring in the stingray, the Express-News reported. He added that while no one measured the catch, he believed it was 6 feet from tail to the tip of its head.

“I couldn’t believe how big it was,” Schwarz told the newspaper. “I didn’t really know they got that big. I’m used to catching freshwater fish so it was a much bigger fight than what I’m used to.”

Schwarz said he harvested the animal’s meat and will make imitation scallops for the Fourth of July weekend, the Express-News reported.
