Taylor Swift released her newest studio album, “Evermore,” at midnight.
Update 12:15 a.m. ET Dec. 11: The singer-songwriter shared a link to the album, a companion to “Folklore,” on social media early Friday.
“I have no idea what will come next,” Swift tweeted shortly after midnight. “I have no idea about a lot of things these days and so I’ve clung to the one thing that keeps me connected to you all. That thing always has and always will be music. And may it continue, evermore. Evermore is out now.”
Swift also released the music video for the song “Willow.”
Original report: Taylor Swift has an early holiday gift for her fans. The singer/songwriter announced a surprise album will drop Thursday night at midnight.
The album, called “Evermore,” is a “sister album to her most recent release “Folklore,” Variety reported.
It’s her ninth studio album, CNN reported.
A video for the song “Willow” will also be released as Swift plans to hold a Q&A on YouTube during the release.
Swift said the album came about because, “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs. To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or travel further into the forest of this music. We chose to wander deeper in,” Variety reported.
“Evermore” will have 15 tracks on the standard edition, while the physical version will have two bonus tracks. You can preorder the album here.
