Man arrested after allegedly beating, burning woman with hot iron in Ohio
DAYTON, Ohio – A man in Ohio has been arrested for allegedly beating and burning a woman with a hot iron, officials say.
According to a news release from the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Malik Rasheed, 46, has been indicted for beating and burning a woman with an iron to her face on Oct. 22.
On Saturday evening, Dayton Police Department officers were called out to a house near Salem and Kenilworth avenues for a domestic violence incident, according to MCPO. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been hit in the face with a hot iron. She suffered cuts and burns to the area.
According to WHIO, investigators learned that Rasheed and the woman had gotten into some kind of argument. During the argument, he allegedly hit her in the face with a hot iron before beating her.
MCPO said Rasheed allegedly hit her with his fists and kicked her. The woman left the house and went to a neighbor’s house to call 911.
MCPO said the Montgomery County grand jury indicted Rasheed for a count of felonious assault with serious physical harm and a count of felonious assault with a deadly weapon.
Rasheed is being held on a $100,000 bond. He is expected to be arraigned on Nov. 3, according to MCPO.
