Snowy weather may be coming to Wisconsin, but the state’s highway patrol is reminding drivers to transport their snowmobiles with care.

That means not loading it on the roof of an automobile.

“Don’t try this at home,” the Wisconsin Department of Transportation posted Monday on Facebook.

A person driving a Toyota Corolla in Polk County was pulled over Sunday by a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

“Our friends at the Wisconsin State Patrol stopped this vehicle Sunday on U.S. 63 in Polk County because this isn’t a safe way to transport a snowmobile,” the Facebook post said.

The Wisconsin DOT recommended hauling winter equipment in a trailer or in the bed of a truck, the Journal Sentinel reported.

This driver was not the first to be caught driving with a snowmobile strapped to the roof of a car, according to the newspaper. In January, Tommy Mecher, an electrician apprentice from Chicago, put a snowmobile on top of his Chevy Malibu and hauled it to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
