TOLEDO, Ohio – An Ohio father and his adult son were killed in two separate Toledo shootings this week, authorities said Wednesday.

According to WNWO-TV and the Toledo Blade, 19-year-old James Smith Jr. was shot and killed in a Page Street parking lot Wednesday afternoon, just two days after his father, James Smith Sr., 39, died in a shooting at Ravine Park Village.

Lucas County Deputy Corner Jeffrey Hudson said Smith Sr. and another 39-year-old man, Dennison Bowen, suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the neck Monday night, the Blade reported. Their injuries “appear consistent with having shot each other,” according to the newspaper.

Smith Jr. died at a hospital Wednesday after he was shot multiple times shortly after 4 p.m., police said. Police have not arrested any suspects in connection with the death, an apparent homicide, WNWO and the Blade reported.

Police are investigating whether the two shootings were connected, according to the news outlets.
