Rare feat: California leap day baby shares birthday with dad
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Leap day babies are rare, but a California infant born Saturday shared even longer odds with her father.
Dad also was born on a Feb. 29, KCRA reported.
Baby Camila, dressed in green “leap-frog” attire, was born at a Sacramento-area hospital, the television station reported. Statistically, the chance of being born Feb. 29 is 1 in 1,461.

The odds were much longer at the San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael.
Nurses at the hospital told KCRA the odds of a parent sharing a leap day birthday with their child is 1 in 2.1 million.
A nurse who has worked at the hospital for 29 years said she has never seen a parent and child share Feb. 29 as a birthday, the television station reported.
