Girl, 5, accidentally shoots, kills another 5-year-old in Georgia home, police say; man charged
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A 5-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed another 5-year-old while playing with a gun in a Georgia home last week, authorities said.
According to WSB-TV, the incident occurred Friday in a home on Madras Court in Lithonia. DeKalb County police said one of the girls discovered a handgun and was playing with it when the weapon discharged, striking the other girl, Jada Willingham, in the face.
Willingham later died at a nearby hospital, the news outlet reported.
Police arrested Chad Brooks Sr. on second-degree murder and child cruelty charges in connection with the death, according to WSB-TV. No further information was immediately available.
