The officers, inspecting a 2019 International tractor manifesting a shipment of air conditioning units en route from Mexico, discovered 167 packages of suspected marijuana. The drugs, which weighed slightly less than 3,500 pounds, have an estimated street value of more than $692,000, the agency stated in a news release.

“Officers at the World Trade Bridge continue to excel in their targeting strategies, remaining vigilant and on the forefront of border security operations,” Laredo Port Director Albert Flores stated.

CBP officers seized the drugs, and the truck’s driver, a 29-year-old Mexican citizen was arrested. The case has been turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
