SHREVEPORT, La. – A Louisiana father is behind bars after police said he shot and killed his toddler son while mishandling a gun.
According to The Associated Press, the gun went off Friday evening as Derrick Wright, 29, of Shreveport, mishandled the weapon, police said. A bullet struck his 19-month-old son, Kayson, in the chest, killing him, the news agency reported.
Wright was arrested on a manslaughter charge and is being held on $250,000 bond, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
