Houston police told KTRK that Keisha Christmas went into the Smoothie King where she used to work on Dec. 13 with her 15-year-old daughter.

Court documents obtained by KHOU indicate Christmas had been fired after instances of being late or failing to show up for work. She was fired on Dec. 12 after receiving several write-ups.

When Christmas went into the restaurant, she allegedly began yelling and tried to go behind the register to grab cash, KTRK reported. When the manager arrived, Christmas demanded, and received, her last check, police told the station.

Christmas is accused of grabbing the manager by the neck, slamming her against the wall three times and saying, “You are not going to ruin my Christmas,” KHOU reported.

Witnesses said Christmas’ daughter was screaming at her mother to stop while the assault was happening, KTRK reported.

Police told KTRK that Christmas then forced the manager to leave the restaurant and go across the street to a Wells Fargo ATM. There, police said Christmas took the victim’s phone and threatened her, saying, “If you try to run, I’ll push you out into oncoming traffic.”

The victim told police that she withdrew $200, fearing for her life, and gave it to Christmas, KHOU reported. Christmas also allegedly took $7 from the victim’s purse as well as $34 from a store safe and $40 from a cash register.

Prosecutors told KTRK that Christmas sent the victim threatening messages.

Christmas is charged with aggravated kidnapping, robbery with bodily injury and retaliation. She was out of jail on bond for an unrelated assault charge when the incident happened, police told KTRK.
