A sixth Thanksgiving dinner is in the books for two strangers who met thanks to a mistaken text message.
Jamal Hinton and Wanda Dench, who didn’t know each other before 2016, joined each other for dinner at Dench’s home in Arizona once again.
Six years ago, Dench mistakenly sent Hinton an invitation to Thanksgiving. She had thought she was messaging her grandson.
But after an exchange of selfies, he had asked if he could still come to dinner. She texted, “Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do … feed everyone,” CNN reported.
That was how Hinton and Dench became family.
Last week, Hinton told everyone on social media that they were on for year six.
On Thursday evening, Hinton shared a photo of himself with Dench, his girlfriend and an image of Dench’s husband Lonnie Dench who had passed away in 2020 due to COVID-19 complications.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic last year and the loss of Lonnie Dench, Hinton and Wanda Dench spent last Thanksgiving together too, CNN reported.
