Volvo is recalling more than 19,000 sedans, SUVs and wagon models because of potentially faulty passenger seat belt retractors.
According to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the vehicles are 2021 and 2022 models. The seat belt retractors could make it difficult for consumers to securely install a child’s car seat, according to Consumer Reports.
An automatic locking retractor, which secures a seat belt, is the component in question, the magazine reported.
Here are the models impacted by the recall:
- 2021 Volvo XC40 and XC40 Recharge
- 2021-2022 Volvo V60
- 2021 V60 CC
- 2021-2022 Volvo XC60
- 2021-2022 Volvo S60
- 2021 Volvo V90 and V90 CC
- 2021 Volvo XC90
According to Volvo, dealers will inspect and replace the seat belt assemblies if necessary, free of charge, according to Consumer Reports. The automaker is expected to notify owners via mail beginning Oct. 31, 2021. Consumers can contact customer service at 800-458-1552.
