HOUSTON – A Texas man is facing charges in relation to a deadly crash that happened moments after he broadcast a Facebook Live video saying he drives better when he drinks.
During the video, police said, Camilo Morejon, 47, was seen drinking what looked like a beer, the Houston Chronicle reported.
It was recorded by Morejon’s girlfriend and posted to his Facebook page, KPRC reported.
The crash happened 10 minutes after the video was posted.
Morejon was at the wheel of his Honda Accord, driving “at a high rate of speed” in Houston, police said.
He crashed into a pickup that was in the process of turning into a business. The driver of the truck was thrown from his vehicle and suffered a brain bleed and a broken arm, the Chronicle reported. He was not wearing a seat belt, NBC News reported.
The crash was recorded by a security camera, KPRC reported.
The three passengers in Morejon’s Accord were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Morejon was intoxicated when the crash happened and that they found open alcoholic beverage containers in the car.
Morejon was charged with three counts of intoxicated manslaughter, NBC News reported.
He also faces a count of intoxication assault, KPRC reported.
He could face upgraded charges if the truck’s driver dies.
