SCOTT COUNTY, Tenn. – A Tennessee grandmother is facing theft charges after authorities accused her of stealing presents from under a family Christmas tree and hocking at least one item for cash at an area pawn shop.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, a family reported several items were taken from under their tree, and investigators later located the stolen Nintendo Switch at the Winfield Pawn Shop, WLVT reported.

“It’s a sad day and time to see charges like this at such a special time of the year for special people, including children. We won’t stand for it,” Scott County Sheriff Ronnie Phillips told WBIR.

Amy Best, 43, has been arrested for the crimes and has been charged, so far, with theft under $1,000, but deputies confirmed the investigation is ongoing because all of the presents taken have not yet been located, WLVT reported.

According to WBIR, Best is being held at the Scott County Jail under a $7,500 bond.
