ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Police are still working to wrangle about 10 cows that got loose after an accident Wednesday.

A truck crashed around 4:30 a.m. sending dozens of animals onto the highway, the News-Press reported.

About 50 cows escaped. Authorities and cowboy groups found some in surrounding neighborhoods.

“There’s some cattle that are unaccounted for, those that have made it outside the city into the rural areas and stuff like that, so that information will probably be hard to ascertain,” St. Joseph’s Police Capt. Jeff Wilson said.

Authorities were tracking a group of bovines Friday when they disappeared into a wooded area.
