SAN ANTONIO – A Texas man is accused of slashing a person who police identified as a “love rival,” possibly with a machete.

San Antonio police said they have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, who allegedly launched an attack at an apartment complex at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, KSAT reported.

According to a preliminary police report, the 36-year-old man was armed with either a large knife or machete when he attacked the victim who was leaving an apartment with the assailant’s former girlfriend.

The victim told officers he attempted to back away, but was still cut on the arm, KSAT reported. He was taken to an area hospital and underwent surgery, the television station reported.

The assailant, who police said has been identified, drove away from the apartment complex in a white Honda.

Police said the suspect has not been found, KSAT reported.
