LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – Texas authorities have arrested a man they believe started a Monday shooting spree that killed three people and injured two others.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Capt. Ken DeFoor told KHOU that Michael Wettstein, 41, is facing capital murder charges in connection with the shootings at multiple locations along County Road 4901. He is being held at the Liberty County Jail.

Investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shootings or whether Wettstein knew his victims, KHOU reported.

Although the names of the victims have not been released, DeFoor confirmed that the two injured victims, a father and his adult daughter, were airlifted to a Houston hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, the TV station reported.

According to deputies, all of the victims lived on the same street in at least three residences. Two of the deaths were in one home, the third was killed in a second home and the third house is where the father and daughter were wounded, KTRK reported.

A shotgun and rifle were recovered in a nearby wooded area, and deputies believe those to be the weapons used in the attacks, KTRK reported.
