Deputies in Washington state said a man deliberately dunked his SUV into the Yakima River on Tuesday so he could fill his radiator with water, KIMA-TV reported.

Emergency crews responded Tuesday at about 11 a.m. PDT after receiving calls about a blue Chevrolet Suburban in the river near Century Landing, the television station reported.

Deputies with the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office contacted the owner of the SUV, who allegedly told them he had replaced the vehicle’s thermostat and needed to fill the radiator with water, according to KIMA.

That is why the SUV was intentionally submerged in the water, the television station reported.

The vehicle was later towed out of the water. It was unclear whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the SUV.
