SAN ANTONIO – A Texas man was rescued from a garbage truck compactor early Monday after he fell asleep in a dumpster, authorities said.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, at about 5:15 a.m. CT, a garbage truck was loading trash from a dumpster in the northwest section of the city, KSAT reported. The man had been sleeping in the dumpster and was picked up along with the trash, the television station reported.

The driver of the truck heard the man screaming, pulled over and found him trapped in the truck’s garbage compactor, KABB reported. The driver immediately called 911 for help, the television station reported.

First responders from the fire department were able to get the man out of the compactor, KENS-TV reported. The man was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the television station.

Police ruled the incident an accident, KABB reported. The driver is not facing any charges.
