Illinois man arrested after stealing fire truck, police say
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – An Illinois man stole a fire truck on Sunday and crashed it into a street sign before he was taken into custody, investigators said.
Police said Cory M. Fisher, 30, stole the apparatus from the Jacksonville Fire Department around 10:09 a.m. and led police on a brief chase, the Journal Courier reported.
Fisher hit a street sign, causing minor damage to the truck and the sign. Shortly later, he was arrested and charged with theft over $500,000, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, WLDS reported.
No one was injured.
Fisher was previously arrested in February and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of ammunition by a felon, the Edwardsville Intelligencer reported.
