The police service reviewed documents and said that the review has been completed and that the investigation has been dropped, CNN reported.

The lawsuit was filed by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who says she was a victim of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In the suit against the prince, Giuffre said she was forced to perform sex acts with him when she was underage. She also said Epstein trafficked her, forcing her to have sex with his friends, including Prince Andrew, CNN reported.

Giuffre said the incidents with the prince happened in London, New York and on Epstein’s private Caribbean island, BBC News reported.

The Duke of York and Buckingham Palace have denied the allegations.

A source close to him said, “It comes as no surprise that the Met Police have confirmed that, having reviewed the sex assault claims against The Duke for a third time, they are taking no further action,” CNN reported.

“Despite pressure from the media and claims of new evidence, the Met have concluded that the claims are not sufficient to warrant any further investigation. The Duke has always vigorously maintained his innocence and continues to do so,” the source said, according to CNN.

The department said it will continue to work with other law enforcement agencies that are working on cases related to Epstein, BBC News reported.

Epstein was found dead in his New York jail cell in August 2019.

His former girlfriend and business partner Ghislaine Maxwell is being held for trial, accused of trafficking young women. She has been charged with enticing a minor to travel to engage in criminal sexual activity and transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity among other charges, ABC News reported. Maxwell has pleaded not guilty.

Prince Andrew stepped back from his royal duties in 2019 and rarely appears in public, CNN reported.
