SAN ANTONIO – A Texas man was wounded in his ankle while he slept, as a stray bullet entered his San Antonio home early Wednesday, authorities said.
San Antonio police officers responded to a call shortly before 1 a.m., KSAT reported.
Police said three people were standing at a corner holding pistols and a rifle. They fired multiple rounds, striking several homes, WOAI reported.
According to police, the gunmen’s intended target was a home just east of the Alamodome. No one was home at that address at the time, the television station reported. A man in the home next door was asleep in his bed when shots went through his bedroom.
The man was in stable condition, authorities said.
Officers believe the shooters tossed their weapons as they ran away, KSAT reported. All three escaped in a car, the television station reported. Police found multiple shell casings scattered across two blocks, WOAI reported.
Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
