PERDIDO KEY, Fla. – Thankfully, this was a real dummy.

A woman walking on a Florida beach was startled Monday when she discovered what looked like a decapitated body. However, it was merely a barnacle-encrusted mannequin.

The headless mannequin was found on Perdido Key near Pensacola on Florida Panhandle WKRG reported. It was covered with barnacles and other sea life, according to a Facebook post by Ocean Hour Florida, a nonprofit that organizes beach cleanups.

Officials from the group said a volunteer named Kathleen was walking the beach on the Intracoastal Waterway side of Perdido Key when she found the “body,” United Press International reported.

Another witness called 911, but Kathleen realized on further inspection that the body was the kind one sees posing in a department store.

“How long has she been out in the water collecting barnacles and sealife? Way too long!” Ocean Hour Florida wrote. “We are glad it wasn’t a real body!”

Officials said they do not know where the mannequin came from.
