ASBURY PARK, N.J. – A 4-year-old New Jersey girl is recovering in a hospital’s intensive care unit after she was wounded in a shooting outside an Asbury Park apartment.

According to WABC-TV and News 12 New Jersey, the girl, whose name has not been released, was outside her Boston Way apartment about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when gunfire erupted, striking her in the upper thigh and breaking her femur, authorities said.

Emergency crews rushed the child to a nearby hospital, the outlets reported.

“Thankfully, all indications are that the little girl will recover,” said Christopher Gramiccioni, prosecutor for Monmouth County.

According to WABC, authorities have not arrested anyone in connection with the case.
