The recall is for the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain for the 2014 and 2015 model years, The Associated Press reported. Ball joints in the windshield wiper module can corrode, causing one or both windshield wipers to fail.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM believes 681,509 vehicles are covered by the recall.

Owners will be notified by letters expected to be mailed May 2.They will then be able to take their vehicle to a dealer to have their SUV’s wiper module inspected, then repaired or replaced as needed, without charge.

This is the second recent recall for owners of the 2014 and 2015 GMC Terrain. General Motors announced in March that it was recalling more than 740,000 GMC Terrain SUVs from the 2010-2017 model years because the vehicle’s headlights can be too bright.
