MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Former Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales filed a claim against the city Thursday, seeking more than half a million dollars after being demoted to a captain.
The notice of claim and injury demands the Milwaukee County Circuit Court review Morales’ demotion and seeks $625,000, Wisconsin Public Radio reported.
Morales filed for retirement in July, WDJT reported.
Aside from stating he was denied due process, Morales’ claim also states the ordeal has tarnished his reputation in the community and removed future career opportunities, WPR reported.
Although his retirement means he exits the department with benefits and a pension commensurate with his former chief rank, Morales’ claim states he will suffer financial losses because his contract extended through Jan. 8, 2024.
