ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – A man allegedly beat his 6-year-old daughter to death with a bat in Missouri.

According to The Associated Press, Dustin L. Beechner, 37, has been arrested and charged with child abuse resulting in death.

The St. Joseph News-Gazette reported, according to the AP, that on Friday police were called out to a house in St. Joseph, Missouri. They found Jozlyn Marie Beechner, 6, dead due to blunt force trauma.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by the AP, Jozlyn was struck multiple times in the head with an aluminum baseball bat. Beechner allegedly led police to the roof of his house where they found Jozlyn under a white sheet. He also identified Jozlyn as his daughter.

A judge on Wednesday issued that Beechner is to be held without bail, according to the AP. Beechner has two felony domestic assault convictions. Beechner was on probation for one of those incidents at the time.

Beechner is on suicide watch at the jail according to Associate Circuit Judge Keith Marquart per the AP. Beechner is expected in court on September 14, a day before Jozlyn was to turn seven years old.

No further information has been released including a possible motive.
