“What’s going on? My name is Michael B. Jordan, and I am this year’s Sexiest Man Alive,” he said in the clip. “The people said it. The people said it.”
He added that his mother, a regular reader of the magazine, is the most excited about the news.
“I think a lot of the older women in my family are definitely proud of this one,” he said. “This is one that they’re definitely going to have a special place for.”
In a profile of the actor, the magazine noted that Jordan has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and championed diversity with his production company, Outlier Society Productions.
“I’ve been picking my moments to make the most impact,” Jordan told People. “We can all take action – big or small – to help create the change we want to see.”
