Bags of organic peaches sold at Aldi, Target and other stores in multiple states were recalled after being linked to a salmonella outbreak, food safety officials said.
The Food and Drug Administration reports 68 people have become ill, leading to 14 hospitalizations, from eating Wawona-brand bags of organic peaches sold in at least 20 states, including Massachusetts, Ohio and New York.
Aldi announced its recall Thursday, removing affected bags from shelves in select stores in states such as Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
Target is in the process of removing the peaches from its shelves, Minnesota health officials said.
Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps, health officials said. In severe cases, it can lead to hospitalization.
