French actor Gaspard Ulliel, who appears in Marvel’s upcoming “Moon Knight” series, died Wednesday following a skiing accident in the Alps, according to his agent’s office. He was 37.

Ulliel appears as antagonist Anton Mogart, also known as Midnight Man, opposite Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke in “Moon Knight.” The first trailer for the series, set to premiere on Disney+ on March 30, was released online Monday.

Ulliel was also known for portraying a young Hannibal in 2007′s “Hannibal Rising” and his role as fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 French biopic “Saint Laurent.” He also appeared in ads for Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel fragrance, Reuters reported.

In 2017, Ulliel won a Cesar award for best actor for his performance in 2017′s “It’s Only the End of the World,” BBC News reported. The award is the French equivalent of an Oscar, the news network reported.

“French cinema is losing a huge talent, full of charm and energy,” French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said Wednesday in a post on Twitter, according to Reuters.

French Prime Minister Jean Castex also mourned Ulliel on social media, writing in a tweet that the actor “grew up with cinema and cinema grew with him,” according to The Guardian.

Ulliel was hospitalized Tuesday after colliding with another skier in the Savoie region’s Rosiere ski area, BBC News and The Associated Press reported. The crash left him with severe brain trauma, according to BBC News.

Ulliel is survived by his son, 6-year-old Orso, and his girlfriend, Gaelle Petri, according to Variety.
