JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 3-year-old girl is recovering after she was shot in a Florida neighborhood Wednesday evening, authorities said.
According to ActionNewsJax, the incident occurred about 6 p.m. on McMillian Street in Jacksonville’s Durkeeville neighborhood. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said crews arrived to find a toddler who had been shot in the leg, the news outlet reported. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is in stable condition and expected to survive, authorities said.
Investigators are still trying to determine who shot the child and the person’s possible motive, ActionNewsJax reported. The Department of Children and Family Services also is involved in the case, according to the news outlet.
