SOUTH BEND, Ind. – An Indiana mother was shot and killed Tuesday, just days after she laid her 5-year-old son to rest.

WNDU says Kaylynn Davidson, 32, was shot outside of a restaurant in South Bend Tuesday evening. She was taken to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.

South Bend police say the shooting happened Tuesday around 9:45 p.m. Kimarie Wright, 26, was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting, according to WSBT. Police say Davidson and Wright knew each other.

WNDU reported that Davidson’s death is the second death the family has had to mourn in the last few weeks. Her son, Kyler Jackson, 5, was accidentally shot and killed three weeks ago.

Wright has been booked on recommended charges of murder and voluntary manslaughter. The motive behind the shooting has not been revealed and the investigation is ongoing.
