EUREKA, Mo – Police in Eureka, Missouri, encountered a particularly stubborn offender Thursday they won’t soon forget.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Eureka police were summoned to Interstate-44 Thursday morning by a “young woman” who discovered an unwelcome visitor in her vehicle.

The driver, whose encounter was shared by the Eureka Police Department on Facebook, found a snake “coiled up under the floor mat” next to a soda bottle, KPLR reported.

“I’m not a snake kind of guy. Good thing other officers are,” the post read.

According to the Post-Dispatch, the vehicle was towed at the driver’s request to a location where authorities could wait for the snake to “make itself accessible.”

Around 11:53 a.m. the serpent fled the vehicle, the newspaper reported.
