HOUSTON – An 18-year-old Texas man killed his 19-year-old sister in an accidental shooting, authorities said.
According to KTRK and KHOU, the incident occurred about 1 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Wellington Street in Houston. Houston police said the man accidentally fired the gun while showing his sister the weapon, striking her neck, the news outlets reported. Although another sibling attempted CPR, the woman, a student at New York’s Syracuse University, died at the scene, KTRK reported.
“It’s a tragic situation for the entire family, and our thoughts and prayers are with them,” said Houston police Sgt. Matthew Brady, according to KTRK.
Authorities continue to investigate the case but do not believe the shooting was intentional, KHOU reported.
