The department’s Capt. Dori Koren took to Twitter on Sunday to share footage of the illegal reptile sales and subsequent rescue of baby turtles that occurred earlier in the day.

“While we appreciate entrepreneurship…we just can’t allow people to illegally sell things on the Strip. And that especially includes turtles!” Koren wrote, sharing a video of an impromptu sting, dubbed “Operation Turtle Rescue.”

“Well this is a first, even for Vegas,” the video is captioned.

It was not immediately clear where the rescued turtles were taken or what consequences the turtle sellers face, KSNV reported.
