Day-Quaun Adkins, 21, was arrested on Dec. 29 and charged with three counts of child abuse causing substantial bodily harm, KLAS-TV reported, citing Las Vegas Justice Court logs.

According to an arrest report, the infant had been to her pediatrician on Dec. 21, the television station reported. The child, who was taken to the pediatrician for a “possible infection” in her mouth, had bite marks on her body, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The pediatrician contacted Clark County Child Protective Services after seeing the child, the newspaper reported.

Physicians at University Medical Center found weeks-old fractures of the baby’s head, tibia, femur and four ribs, the Review-Journal reported.

According to the arrest report, on Dec. 21, Adkins told detectives that he had burped the baby “too hard” about five weeks before they interviewed him, the newspaper reported. Adkins told detectives that the incident had “scared him and he made sure not to burp her that hard again,” the arrest report stated.

Adkins ater admitted that he “squeezed” the infant after she was crying while he was losing a video game, KLAS reported.

“The frustration and anger were compounded by (the child) crying,” investigators wrote in their arrest report. “He described that he squeezed very hard out of anger.”

“While squeezing her shin, he described how her foot rotated inward from the force of the squeeze.”

Adkins told police that the baby began to eat, but “he was still upset,” so he pushed her knees into her chest, the Review-Journal reported.

A judge set bail at $100,000. Adkins will appear in court on Jan. 20, KLAS reported.
