SCRANTON, Kan. – A 2-year-old child died late Sunday after Kansas authorities found the toddler unresponsive inside a vehicle.

According to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were called to an undisclosed Scranton residence at 3:40 p.m. local time, KSNT and WIBW reported.

Although first responders began administering life-saving measures immediately, the child died at an area hospital a short time after being discovered, KSNT reported.

Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells told WIBW that investigators do not believe the child was left in the car.

According to the TV station, the child’s name and circumstances surrounding the death have not been released.
