According to WHBQ-TV, Lionel Childs, 30, of Memphis, is facing a child abuse and neglect charge after a witness spotted the girl inside a vehicle in the Holmes Road facility’s parking lot on Monday. Memphis police responded shortly after 4 p.m. and forced entry into the car through a back window, unlocked the door and removed the child, the news outlet reported.

Authorities examined the child, whose condition was stable, and police gave her a McDonald’s Happy Meal after she complained that she was hungry, WHBQ reported. They also alerted the Department of Children’s Services, according to the news outlet.

Childs, who was working a shift at the warehouse, later arrived at the scene and told officers that he had left his daughter in the car because he could not find anyone to babysit her, police said.
