Mother Marilyn Foshee and daughter Julie Foshee-Knowell worked in the nursery at Trinity Christian Academy for many years, WJAX-TV reported.

“Julie, and her mom Marilyn, their family have been at Trinity as long as I can remember,” senior pastor Tom Messer said. “I think that’s what makes it so profoundly sad. That it’s a mom and a daughter and people that have given their life for service for other people, particularly children.”

Foshee-Knowell was the preschool director at the school. Foshee was affectionally known as “Mimi,” a grandmother to all at the church.

“People forever tell the stories about Mimi coming to the rescue, where she could make it where, kids were being ‘grandmothered,’ not taught,” Messer said.

The pair are believed to have contracted the virus during the Thanksgiving holiday break, WJAX reported. No one else at the school was exposed.

A crowd sourced funding account was set up to help Ray Scott Foshee, who lost his mother and sister.
